KO – Coca Cola stock price watch:Coca-Cola Company said on Wednesday unauthorized fungicides were found in its own and competitors’ orange juice and it had issued a warning to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration(FDA) that some Brazilian orange growers sprayed a kind of microbicide to the orange trees. After the FDA had announced the measures to handle the pollutional orange juice, Coca-Cola disclosed this information. But, Coca-Cola did not disclose which brands of products were found including fungicides. The company’s Simply Orange and Minute Maid brands both contain juice from Brazil.
According to the Sanford C. Bernstein & Co’s repot, the Coca-Cola and Pepsi accounted of two-thirds of the the U.S. orange juice market share in the past year. Pepsi mainly produces two juice brand, Tropicana and Dole, while the Pepsi brand spokesman Tropicana refused to disclose whether their products were found including the similar fungicides.
The orange juice futures prices fell sharply on Wednesday, due to the investors concerned about the sales of orange juice would be impacted by the fungicide-event.
The Coca Cola stock price fell $1.28, or 1.85%, to close at $68.06. In the after-hours trading, the Coca Cola stock price still declined $0.12, or 0.18%. Read more about the Coca-Cola’s dividend.
