Facebook (FB) stock price closed up 3.7% and 6.1% last Thursday and Friday, respectively, with a three-day cumulative gain of more than 15%. But the current Facebook stock price is still lower than its IPO price of $38 per share. The intraday volume of 42.96 million shares was below the daily average of 81.30 million shares. Facebook stock price has traded down since the Facebook IPO on 18 May, 2012. The shares touched a new low of $25.52 after the IPO on June 5; then its stock price began to rise slowly; to close above $30 per share this Monday. On the basis of the closing price of $31.41 per share, Facebook’s market value is $67.2 billion, with a price to earnings ratio of 100.
Facebook reached a merger agreement with Israel’s facial recognition technology company Face.com and the former will receive all the latter’s staffs and core technologies. Media reported that the offer price is approximately $80 million to $1 billion. Facebook has taken several acquisitions after its IPO; Facebook bought social oriented gift mobile application Karma for $80 million in May; acquired online photo-sharing service provider Instagram for $1 billion. Recently, there have been rumors that Facebook may buy social media marketing tools provider WildfireInteractive for $250 million.
