Hot stocks: CIEN, SAI, ZNGA, ZUMZ, IRWD

Ciena Corporation (CIEN) provides communications networking equipment, software and services. CIEN stock price climbed 0.89% in the pre-market trading Friday. The stock fell almost 20% Tursday as its worse-than-expected third quarter financial results.

SAIC, Inc. (SAI) gained 7.79% in the pre-market trading session after the company raised its full-year revenue guidance and announced to separate it into two independent, publicly traded companies.

Zynga (ZNGA) ushered employee departures. Zynga’s studio affairs vice president Bill Mooney and vice president of marketing department, Brian Birtwistle resigned. Earlier this week, Mike Verdu, Zynga’s chief innovation officer submitted his resignation and decided to start his own company. In fact, as the sluggish business performance along with stock price declines, the social game developer has seen a number of executives leaving. Just in August, there are at least another four executives quitting. ZNGA stock price traded down 0.69% in the pre-market trading.

Zumiez Inc. (ZUMZ), a specialty retailer of action sports products, reported its second quarter financial results topping consensus estimate based on robust sales and an improved gross margin. Ne sales increased 20.4% from a year ago. Quarterly adjusted earnings of 17 cents per share exceeded the average analyst estimate of 13 cents.ZUMZ stock price slipped 9.93% in the pre-market trading session.

Ironwood Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (IRWD) is a pharmaceutical company which discovers, develops and intends to commercialize differentiated medicines. IRWD stock price rallied 1.05% in the pre-market trading session Friday after the company announced FDA approval of Linzess for the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C) and chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC).
