PMI watch: December Chicago PMI fell, slightly better than expected

Chicago PMI watch: The U.S. Institute for Supply Management (ISM) Chicago branch released a report at 9:45 am. EST on Thursday showing that this December, the Chicago Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) which measures the Chicago-area manufacturing situation fell slightly to 62.5 points, compared to the previous month of 62.6 pionts, but the Chicago PMI is higher than the average market economists expecation of 60.7 points. Analysts expected the Chigaco PMI range of 58.0 points to 65.0 points.

The Chicago PMI indicates that the manufacturing activity in the Chicago-area achieves expansion if it is more than 50. The December manufacturing activity in the Chicago area gains the expansion of the 27 consecutive month.
