Mobile analysis company Vision Mobile released a new research report recently, showing that application development for BlackBerry has been less and less, but for third-party developers, BlackBerry is still the most profitable platform. The average monthly revenue from the BlackBerry applications is $3,853, higher than $3,693 from iOS and $ 2,735 from Android.

These data are based on 95% of the market applications with specific revenue models. In order to obtain more accurate data about the revenues from the BlackBerry applications, Vision Mobile did not consider the 5% of applications with the highest revenue, because the performance of the most popular applications is often far better than the other applications.
However, even among unknown developers, application revenue situations are very different. Vision Mobile estimated that more than half of the BlackBerry application developers generate monthly revenues of less than $500, compared to just 34.7% for the iOS developers. This means that despite the development of iPhone applications may generate lower revenues, the developers are more likely to obtain a certain income.
In addition, the BlackBerry is a low-cost application development platform. Each introduction of a typical BlackBerry application costs $15,181 averagely, lower than the $27,463 average for iOS, and the $22,637 average for Android.
However, these positive factors did not have much impact on developers, many developers have seen Blackberry as a “sinking ship”. 41% of the multi-platform developers supporting BlackBerry, are planning to give up RIMM. To make matters worse, 14% of the developers primarily focusing on Blackberry are considering changing platforms.
RIMM stock price continues its poor performance, with a decline of 2.57%, or $.26, to close at $10.07 per share. RIMM stock price has dropped 30.62% since the beginning of this year. The shares are currently traded below the 50-day moving average and 200-day moving average. RIMM currently has a market cap of $5.28 million.
