TripAdvisor will be split separately from Expedia to list its shares on the stock market on December 21. Its market value was estimated at about 40 billion of U.S. dollars by some institutional investors.
TripAdvisor earnings grew from $298 million in 2008 to $486 million in 2010 with the annual compound growth rate of 28%. Half of the TripAdvisor’s revenue came from the United States, but this proportion was declining. Revenue from Britain had grown to 14% of the total revenues in 2010. TripAdvisor has two holding subsidiary companies in China and does not disclose any specific revenue figures currently.
TripAdvisor net profit margin is about 30%. The net profit of the first half of 2011 rose by 31% to $100 million. The net profit CAGR from 2008 to 2010 was 38%.
